Danny Choi’s screamer was the highlight of the first four FFA Cup round of 32 matches.

Having trailed 2-0 early, Blacktown City restored parity to drag their clash against Sydney United into extra time, eventually steamrolling their New South Wales counterparts to claim an emphatic 6-2 win. The pick of the goals was Choi’s incredible strike, finding the back of the net from well inside Blacktown’s own half. It did not take long for that goal to go viral.

FFA Cup semi-finalists Hume City found a way across the line against Marconi Stallions despite falling 1-0 behind to a Mirjan Pavlovic stunner. That goal appeared decisive, but Kym Harris levelled the tie in the 117th minute before the former Newcastle Jet went from hero to zero, skying the first penalty of the shootout.

Up in the Northern Territory, it was a bittersweet night for minnows Shamrock Rovers Darwin. Pitted against Brisbane Strikers, the task was simply too great with the Queenslanders running away 6-0 victors.

Elsewhere, Edgeworth Eagles were too good for Far North Queensland Heat. Danny McBreen featured among the scorers as the Newcastle-based club progressed to the next round courtesy of a 3-0 win.

Here’s how Twitter saw a dramatic first instalment of round of 32 matches.
