Adelaide United coach Guillermo Amor says he was happy with the way the Reds disposed of Melbourne City in their 2-0 win, but he is not relaxing just yet.

United need rivals Melbourne Victory to either beat or draw with Brisbane Roar to guarantee them a first place position. Despite the Spaniard’s satisfaction, Amor looks to carry on their good form in the finals.

United now most likely play either Roar or Western Sydney Wanderer’s after a well earned week off. The Reds kept City quiet in the final round and the coach also acknowledged the difficulty in shutting down Aaron Mooy and Bruno Fornaroli who were both uncharacteristically ineffective.

“The last game wasn’t tonight. Now, there’s two or three games, it’s much more and we’ve been going very well for a long time now and we’re happy for this,” Amor said.

“Tonight was difficult, City needed to win the game, they also needed the points. Our team was very good, the situation now is very good and now we wait for tomorrow’s game. Our job is done, our target was to arrive here, play well and we did it.”

With the Reds needing the Roar to fall to the Victory, Amor was not short of humour. The United boss also spoke of the importance of a week off.

“I like Victory,” the Barcelona legend joked.

“They’re a very good team, but Brisbane play very well, on the table we prefer this situation. Victory win or draw. It depends how Roar feel, they know if they win, they’re champions.

“It’s better (to have a week off), we have to prepare well. We don’t know the team and the rival, after this week and there’s more time to set up for the game.

“We play at home, a semi-final at home. It’s important for us.”
