Atléti’s depth will be able to keep them within distance of Real Madrid and Barcelona
Simeone has so much depth in his side that not even €20 million signing Yannick Ferreira Carrasco or Saúl were introduced against Eibar, an indication of just how much quality is packed into los Rojiblancis. Last season, besides the key losses both home and away to Barcelona, the amount of draws Atléti accumulated distanced themselves from first and second significantly.
However, matches such as this where it seems Atléti struggle to break open tough defending teams such as Eibar, the coach has world class players even on the bench to make an impact, like Torres and Correa did so brilliantly. Having to participate in three competitions will require a lot, but luckily it seems Simeone has plenty of quality in his side to threaten rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona for domestic glory this season.
