Perth ends its winless streak against the Reds

The Glory finally ended its winless run against their rivals dating back to March 2012 which equates to 10 meetings in all competitions. The men in purple were by far the better team and demonstrated its experience and self-control by remaining tactically sound, picking when to move forward as a unit and when to soak up possession. Boss Kenny Lowe will also be delighted that his side managed to build on the midweek triumph in the FFA Cup against Melbourne City.

Adelaide penalised on the break

Interestingly, all the goals scored by the hosts came via the counter-attack who were explosive in transition, exposing the Reds’ defensive deficiencies. At 2-0 down, the decision to change to three at the back cost United as they conceded again through Castro’s goal which dashed any hopes of United getting something from the encounter. Osama Malik and Dylan McGowan were not at their usual best and will need to swiftly recover for the next weekend against the Brisbane Roar.
