Are Brisbane contenders?

Nine points from nine at home. Top of the league after six games with 13 points, and only one loss. 11 goals scored. Even without Jamie Maclaren and Matt McKay, Brisbane looked the better team against Perth. They controlled possession in the first half and were constantly on the front foot. The fact the match-winning combination of Hervas and Henrique were both coming off injuries doesn’t bode well for the rest of the league. John Aloisi looks a different coach to the one we saw fail at Melbourne Heart and the likes of Thomas Broich and Maclaren are potential match-winners. Defensively, Jade North and Daniel Bowles were great today and were good value for their clean sheet. We may be six games in, but Brisbane are already showing signs they’ll be there at season’s end, competing for the Golden Toilet Seat.
