Leicester City captain Wes Morgan says he is looking forward to making his long awaited Champions League debut against Club Brugge.

The incredible storyline enters a remarkable new chapter on Wednesday night, as the champions from the Premier League take on Belgium’s own Club Brugge.

Morgan, 32, believes that merely taking part in the Champions League rivals the accomplishment of a Premier League crown, a feat that sent shockwaves through the footballing landscape.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Morgan said: “To win the Premier League is a great moment but this is definitely alongside it,” the defender said.

“At the age of 32, to be playing in a competition like this is fantastic and I’m looking forward to it.”

“This is one of the proudest moments of my career. Normally I’m at home watching on the TV. The music sends a shiver through your body so it’ll be special walking out.”

Morgan is not ruling out a deep run in the competition; he knows that Leicester are not in the Champion League just to make up the numbers.

“No one said we could win the Premier League. If teams take us lightly it only plays to our advantage. I’m sure that won’t be the case.”

“Claudio knows what he’s doing. He’s been in the competition many times and we’ll listen closely to what he has to say.

“They’re in the competition for a reason. We have to expect the best that Club Brugge have to offer tomorrow.”
