Returned Melbourne Victory star Marco Rojas was on target again on Wednesday afternoon, scoring in a 1-0 behind-closed-doors friendly win against Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium.

Daniel Georgievski and Fahid Ben Khalfallah combined on the left-hand side, with the former making a purposeful push forward.

He teed up the Kiwi who had drifted into the box from the right-flank, getting in behind the Adelaide defence and burying the close-range strike with Euegene Galekovic rendered helpless.

The goal is Rojas’ second since arriving back at Victory a month ago after departing VfB Stuttgart by mutual consent. The first came in last week’s 3-1 friendly win over Sydney FC at AAMI Park, also played behind-closed-doors.

Kevin Muscat’s side remains unbeaten in the preseason having also progressed to the last eight of the FFA Cup after wins over Newcastle Jets and Hume City. They will take on Bentleigh Greens in the next round on 27 September at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex.

Goalkeeper Alistair Bray, who is on trial with the club, was between the posts for the second half.

Victory have so far added Rojas, James Troisi, Mitch Austin and Alan Baro to the squad and it now looks as though Michael Essien could follow under the Guest Marquee Rule.
