Slaven Bilic is quickly finding out there is no respite from the attention that is focused on a Premier League manager.

The Croatian tactician came to the premier league with an exceptional reputation and was widely respected at West Ham for his time as a player.

Replacing ‘Big Sam’ with Bilic was a move lauded by Hammers fans, who had pleaded for the team to ‘play football’, something they did for periods last campaign, but struggled when it really mattered.

Things started magnificently for Bilic, with a memorable 2-0 defeat of Arsenal on the opening day. But subsequent losses to Leicester and Bournemouth, two teams West Ham should be accounting for at home in particular, have raised questions already over the manager and his methods. Although it is too early to judge, Bilic’s team has struggled defensively, conceding the first two goals in the past two games through simple lapses (highlighted by Aaron Cresswells’s errors on the weekend, leading to Bournemouth’s goals).

Not having Alex Song in the team has left a big gap, now preventing the Hammers from really dominating games and asserting themselves on other teams. Yet Bilic’s team seems to be playing reactive football, which granted worked at the Emirates, but they should not be trying to play on the counter at home. Bilic must address this soon, as the 2015-16 season could quickly slip away.
