The 34-year-old will line up in what is likely to be his last major international tournament, in the hope of leading his country to glory.
Coming off yet another stellar season for Paris Saint-Germain, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is determined to make Euro 2016 a tournament to remember on a personal level, as well as for his Sweden side.
Role in the team
The Manchester United target is not only the focal point up front for the Swedes, but also their captain and leader. Having represented his country on 112 occasions, the mountainous attacker has netted 62 times. Without Ibrahimovic, it is difficult to fathom how Erik Hamrén’s side would have qualified for the upcoming tournament. He scored 11 of his nation’s 19 goals during the qualifying stages for Euro 2016, including three against fellow Scandinavian outfit Denmark in the play-offs.
There can be no underestimating the charismatic striker’s importance to his nation. He not only boasts a far superior array of talent in comparison to his teammates, but also a greater amount of pedigree, having won titles in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France.
