Juve need Marchisio back, very soon
Life without Claudio Marchisio has been extremely difficult for Juventus. Arguably the club’s second best performer behind Carlos Tevez last season, they have been without their star man in midfield for all but one match of 2015-16. The starting line on occasions this season has consisted of three 22-year-olds, Mario Lemina, Stefano Sturaro and Paul Pogba, neither possessing the ability to really play Marchisio’s role in central-midfield. Hernanes has slid into Il Principino’s spot at times with no success, clearly being played out of position.
Against Napoli, it was the Brazilian who played the role of distributor in midfield, having an absolute disaster of a game, eventually being subbed-out for Juan Cuadrado. The problem lies in midfield for Juve this season, coping with the losses of Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal has not been made easier by injuries to Marchisio and newcomer Sami Khedira. Once the reigning champions gain two-thirds of their midfield back, they will have no excuses for any further losses.
