Battle of the new boys makes relegation race closer

Any season in Serie A for a newly promoted club can be daunting, exciting and extremely difficult to settle and retain a spot for the season after. Carpi and Frosinone, two very small clubs, have battled extremely well with the limited resources available to them, causing some upsets in the process.

The weekend was the most important match for both sides. A win for Frosinone would have leap-frogged them out of the drop zone for the first time this season, however Carpi had other ideas, taking all three points and moving to only two points away from a similar position. It could be now that one of the two survive the current season if Palermo continue their horrible form.

Milan have the edge over the Mussi Volanti

Rumblings of an exit for the Milan manager at the end of the season have dominated the headlines over the past week which seemed to have some effect on the players, Christian Abbiati feeling the need to defend Sinisa Mihajlovic in a post-match press conference.

With all the pressure on the away team, it was a chance for Chievo to finally take all three points off Milan for the first time in over a decade, December 2005 being the last occasion. However, they were lucky to even snatch a draw from the match. The Rossoneri hit the post on two occasions in the same play, denying them the win.

Stadio Luigi Ferraris a tough task for Torino

It has been a poor season for i Granata who were looking to contend for a European place at the beginning of the year after a strong finish in 2014-15. Torino now find themselves in 13th position and face Juventus in the Derby Della Mole on the weekend, needing some further points to begin building for next season.

A second half goal by i Grifone was enough for the home side to take all three points and condemn to yet another loss in Genoa, now making it 35 years since Torino has won in the northern region of Italy.
