AC Milan returned to winning ways this weekend after thumping Sampdoria 4-1 at the San Siro.

The visitors were given an early chance when Gianluigi Donnarumma messed up a back  pass with a terrible clearance, however, Roberto Soriano was unable to take advantage. The midfield, which has struggled recently, was a fierce force this game. Giacomo Bonaventura opened the scoring, but it was a brace from M’Baye Niang either side of halftime that all but sealed it for Milan. Luiz Adriano added further woes to the Blucerchiati, scoring the fourth goal for the hosts in the 79th minute, while Sampdoria were awarded some consolation after Andrea Poli fouled Eder in the penalty box.

AC Milan

Gianluigi Donnarumma – 6: Very shaky at the start and nearly gifted a goal to Sampdoria, however, recovered well after that.

Ignazio Abate – 7: Performed his fullback duties to the tee, rarely troubled.

Alex – 6: The defence had little to do, however, made some excellent clearances.

Alessio Romagnoli – 6: Unable to do too much, did not see the ball as much as the forwards and midfield.

Luca Antonelli – 7: An excellent showing, kept the opposition guessing and very nearly had an assist, only for Adriano to be denied.

Alessio Cerci – 8: Created the goal for Adriano, one of his best games yet this season.

Juraj Kucka – 6: Held possession far greater than his last few games, a strong presence on the field

Riccardo Montolivo – 7: A superb showing from the captain, setting up several scoring opportunities and threading passes through the defence.

Giacomo Bonaventura – 9: Bonaventura scored the first goal and was a fearsome presence in the midfield. Brought down in the box allowing Niang to score the second goal of the game.

Carlos Bacca – 6: Was given several opportunities to score, failing to convert. Lacking in goals but made up for ti in passing and possession.

M’Baye Niang – 9: Niang was sensational, scoring two and setting up the first goal of the match which found Bonaventura.

Substitutes

Andrea Poli – 5: Replaced Kucka in the second-half and was rarely troubled or troubling, but gave away the penalty for Sampdoria
