Chinese Super League clubs have been splashing cash on just about every big name in Europe, and it looks like it will be the new hub for our Socceroos, with as many as eight of our starting eleven players set to all be plying their trade in the booming league.

According to Daniel Garb on the Daily Football Show, Robbie Kruse is the latest name to be linked with a move to China, after returning to Bayern Leverkusen following his loan spell at VfB Stuttgart where he made just three appearances.

Despite Leverkusen boss Jonas Boldt telling the club’s official website that Kruse is part of his plans, Garb says there are strong reports of interest from China and that a deal could be completed by the time the German transfer window shuts within 12 hours.

“The other rumour going around at the moment is that Robbie Kruse could be the latest player to head there [China],” he said.

“The German transfer window is open until tomorrow.”

If Kruse does indeed make the move to China, he will join Trent Sainsbury, Tim Cahill, Matthew Spiranovic, James Troisi and Ryan McGowan in the Super League, with Tommy Oar and Alex Wilkinson also rumoured to be signing for Chinese clubs as well.

“You look at the money being spent to bring players in their prime. There’s something happening there,” Garb said.

“Crucially for us as Socceroos fans, the standard will improve all the time.”
