Player agent Ritchie Hinton has told the Daily Football Show that his client Gui Finkler remains displeased by his Asian Champions League (ACL) omission alongside Fahid Ben Khalfallah.

Murmurings of Finkler’s unhappiness about Kevin Muscat’s decision to leave him out of the ACL squad for a second time have the Brazilian seeing red, with his Victory future in considerable doubt.

Hinton says the fact that this is the second time Finkler has not been picked for the continent’s premier club competition is particularly upsetting for the 30-year-old amid a “tough” choice by coach Muscat.

“He (Finkler) obviously wasn’t over the moon, compounded by the fact that it’s the second time (he’s been left out),” Hinton said.

“It’s a tough decision for Kevin (Muscat). I’m not going to stand here and say he’s done either the right or the wrong thing. He’s got to live and die by his own decisions.

“I think there are really strong arguments for having Gui in there. He’s likely their most creative weapon, he’s been best on ground for them arguably last two games.

“They do lack a creative spark when he doesn’t play.

“But we’re talking about the A-League. Is it different in the ACL when the teams play a different style of football?

“Kev’s made a tough decision, clearly Gui’s unhappy about it, clearly Ben Khalfallah’s unhappy about it.”

Victory open their Asian Champions League campaign tonight at AAMI Park against Chinese powerhouse Shanghai SIPG.
