Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford is set for a swift return to the England senior team for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia.

According to the Daily Mail, England manager Sam Allardyce is set to recall the young striker after his strong start to the season.

Allardyce is desperate for further depth up front with first choice striker Harry Kane ruled out with an ankle injury.

Rashford continued his remarkable early-career run, debuting for the England under-21s earlier this month and scoring a hat-trick as England defeated Norway.

Under-21s manager Gareth Southgate appeared likely to have Rashford in his team for upcoming U21 Euro 2017 qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Bosnia, with a win in either game ensuring qualification for the tournament next summer.

If form is anything to go by, Rashford will not just be making up the numbers in the England squad with the 18-year-old scoring more goals than both Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy so far this season.

Southampton striker Charlie Austin appears likely to miss out on selection despite his strong form in recent weeks.
