Melbourne City

Tando Velaphi – 7: Played well in the short time he was on the pitch before going off injured after a nasty collision with Fernandez.

Matthew Millar – 7: Scored on his debut and did not look out of place at first team level. His attacking forays forward were promising for City fans.

Jack Clisby – 7: Solid outing in a return to his former stomping ground, although was never really tested by Fernandez.

Connor Chapman – 7: Strong at the back and had the better of Fernandez for the majority of the game. Led the defence well without Kisnorbo by his side.

Ben Garrucio – 6: Dealt with the threat of Harold well, but was pressured into conceding the own goal on the cusp of half time. Was outplayed by Risdon in the second half.

Aaron Mooy – 7: Instrumental for City as expected, but did not dominate proceedings like he did in the Melbourne Derby. Always a worry for any team, but was well shackled in the second half by Ferreira.

Jacob Melling – 5: As quiet as a mouse evading a cat. Barely noticeable, especially next to his midfield partner Mooy.

Wade Dekker – 5: Like Melling, was very quiet on the right-hand side and failed to test Warren at all.

Stefan Mauk – 7: A bright spark for the visitors. His pace and passing in the final third meant Perth always had to be on their toes. Faded in the second half, but so did the rest of his team.

Steve Kuzmanovski – 7: Like Mauk, his pace and willingness to run at the defence caused the Glory many problems. City’s best player on the night.

Bruno Fornaroli – 6: Had a tough time as the lone striker against Thwaite and Djulbic, never an easy task at the best of times. Always worked to get involved with his fellow attackers.

Substitutes

Thomas Sorensen – 6: Conceded twice, and will not be happy with his performance, despite being unlucky with the own goal.

David Williams – 7: Replaced the disappointing Dekker and was an improvement. Nearly scored with a fizzing low strike.
