After suffering two straight defeats for the first time this season, BVB turned around their fortunes against VfB Stuttgart, winning 4-1.

As a result, the Black and Yellows solidified second place in the league, comfortably sitting seven points ahead of third-placed VfL Wolfsburg.

In an emphatic display, Dortmund underscored they have recovered the winning scent. Less than two minutes in, Dortmund’s Gonzalo Castro headed in an attempted clearance of goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyton. Their fierce attacks bore further fruit when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang chipped in a second goal in the 19th minute, following a superb backheel flick from Sunday night’s outstanding player Castro.

Against the run of play – just after Aubameyang’s potential second goal was disallowed five minutes before half time – Daniel Didavi managed to stump a momentarily disorganised Dortmund side with a tap in for 2-1 at half time.

Any nascent hope from Stuttgart supporters was squashed quickly however, as Dortmund returned from the break in style and with ample conviction to not let this one slip away. They subsequently forced Georg Niedermeier into an own goal (65′) and later on a neat Aubameyang solo resulted in Dortmund’s fourth goal of the night.
