Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will not pick Yaya Toure until he makes a formal apology to the club and his teammates after comments made by his agent.

Left out of the Champions League squad, Toure has made just the one appearance for the Sky Blues this season.

The 33-year-old’s agent, Dimitri Seluk, landed the Ivorian in big trouble when he said Guardiola and the club should be “humiliated” if City do not win the competition and should apologise to Toure.

If Toure wants to pull on the shirt again for City, then it’s simple according to the manager: “He must apologise. If he doesn’t, he won’t play.”

Seluk then returned fire, speaking to BBC Sport: “What do I need to apologise for?”

“We will see what happens. His contract expires at the end of the season and in January he will be free to go.”

Guardiola was disappointed that Toure lacked the “courage” to call him after the midfielder returned to training on Monday.

Toure was sold to City in 2010 from Barcelona when Guardiola was in charge at the Nou Camp.
