The Croatian came into the match with his side playing good attacking football, something that he himself had profited from, scoring two goals. And yet, no one could have predicted that he’d score a hat trick against the thus-far stingy Inter, though that’s just what he did.
He collected a somewhat fortunate first goal resulting from a lunging tap in after Sami Handanovic stopped a long range shot from Ilicic. There was nothing fortunate about his second, finishing a brilliant cross by Marcos Alonso. The third was the pick of the bunch, some lovely one two play with Ilicic.
Paulo Sousa will have selection headaches from here on with all his strikers playing well.
