Just under a week after claiming their maiden A-League championship, Adelaide United have announced their first round of squad changes of the offseason.

Young winger Bruce Kamau, who burst onto the scene late in the season with the Reds, scoring the all-important opening goal in Sunday’s grand final, has confirmed to have departed the club, with a move to Melbourne City widely anticipated.

In his 32-game career with the Reds, Kamau established himself as a fan favourite. United insist they did all they could to keep Kamau in their ranks, but the player believed his best option was to pursue opportunity elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Adelaide have confirmed that on-loan AZ Alkmaar striker Eli Babalj, whose time at Coopers Stadium was decimated by injury after an anterior cruciate ligament tear against Brisbane Roar on matchday 16, will be returning to his parent club in the Netherlands.

The moves come shortly after the Advertiser reported that recently crowned club champion Craig Goodwin will be on the move to Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam.
