Juventus newcomer Miralem Pjanic spoke ahead of his first match in Juventus colours tomorrow night at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) against Melbourne Victory.

The 26-year-old declared that he has made the right choice in joining the Bianconeri and that it is in Turin that he will have a bigger chance at silverware, after spending the last five years at AS Roma where he scored 30 goals in 185 appearances.

Pjanic spoke of his pride in moving to a club like Juventus and his aims for the coming season.

“Every decision I make, I make with my heart. I’m very happy and proud to be here at Juventus.” he said.

“I spent five years in Rome which I’m very grateful for. I now joined a team with higher goals that I hope i’m able to achieve.” he continued.

“I felt like I was ready to take the next step forward and Juve really wanted me. Our goals for this season are to preserve the titles we won last season, the league and cup. Now, we aim for the Champions League as well.”

Ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Melbourne Victory, Pjanic admits it will not be an easy fixture – but his side will use the opportunity to build fitness ahead of the upcoming season.

“There is a really good atmosphere in the locker room. We will do our best to win tomorrow,” he said.

“It is important we get miles in our legs.”

Amember of the AS Roma squad which travelled to Melbourne last year, Pjanic also spoke about the current level of Australian football, which he believes is constantly improving.

“Australian soccer is improving every year. We know that it’s not the most famous sport in Australia but we can see that quite important players decide to come here near the end of their career, this is a sign that football is progressing.”
