Mario Balotelli: Liverpool move the “worst decision of my life”

Former Liverpool outcast Mario Balotelli has labelled his move to the Merseyside club as the worst move of his life.

The enigmatic Italian joined the Reds for £16 million under Brendan Rodgers in 2014, described then by the now Celtic manager as a “calculated risk”.

Handed the unenviable task of replacing Luis Suarez, Balotelli’s stay at Anfield was disastrous. He scored just one goal in 16 matches in a red shirt an moved back to AC Milan on loan for the 2015-16 season.

Balotelli finally found an escape route from Liverpool on deadline day, joining OGC Nice, where he has already doubled his tally for the Reds after scoring twice in the 3-2 win over Marseille.

Ultimately, he says, he just did not like the club.

“Apart from the fans, who were fantastic with me, I must be honest, and the players, who I had a good rapport with, I didn’t like the club,” he told Canal+.

“I had two coaches, Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp.

“As people they didn’t make a good impression on me.

“I didn’t get along with them.”
