Barcelona welcomed Villarreal to the Camp Nou and duly sent them home with a 3-0 win. A brace from Neymar and a penalty for Luis Suarez was enough for the home team to take the points against a defensive Yellow Submarine.

Villarreal’s tight pressing game kept clear cut chances at a premium for the Blaugrana, but they would have the better of the opportunities of the first stanza. Their best came from a counter-attack following a Yellow Submarine corner as the ball was cleared out and left the Villarreal defenders short on numbers, sweeping the ball to the left it was Jeremy Mathieu with a powerful effort that was saved by Alphonse Areola.

Barca pressed for an opening, but were unable to break the deadlock and it was Samu Castillejo that almost put the ball in the net for the visitors. A quick break that saw him attempt a one-two with Jonathon Dos Santos let the Spanish Youth International strike on goal, though he was denied by Claudio Bravo.

The hosts started the second-half much better and it only took until the 59th minute to find an advantage. A rare misplaced pass from Bruno found the feet of Sergio Busquets, who looked up and played an incisive pass though for Neymar to place the ball into the net.

Barcelona doubled their lead 10 minutes later, asMunir was taken down inside the box by Jaume Costa and from the spot Luis Suarez made no mistake for the 2-0 lead.

Neymar would score his second to seal the match in the 85th minute, with what could be goal of the season. Suarez’s pass across the face of goal cut out two defenders and Neymar would receive the ball, chip it backwards over both his and Jaume Costa’s heads, before half-volleying for the finish.
