Brisbane braved the Sydney rain to return to winning ways with a 3-1 triumph over the Sky Blues earlier tonight.
The visitors started quickly and found a way through the Sydney defence inside the first 10 minutes, when Jamie Maclaren followed-up on his own striker that had hit the post. The horrendous early weather had the referee considering an early end to the game, though as the downpour began to clear both sides had decent possession leading into the break.
Minutes into the second-half the Sky Blues found their equaliser though, with an Alex Gersbach fee-kick from just outside the 18-yard area deflecting off Corona and unfortunately into his own net.
Sydney’s momentum was short lived, however, as just after the hour mark the back four were unlocked by a long pass that ended with a simple header for Matt McKay. There was no way back for the hosts, with a sublime run from Henrique setting up Maclaren to tap-in his second of the night, to the further frustration of Graham Arnold.

The only idea in attack was "give it to Gersbach". And when he delivered, there was nobody to finish. #SYDvBRI
