Arsenal’s Champions League campaign is in serious jeopardy, following the London club’s 3-2 home loss against Greek outfit Olympiacos.
Arsene Wenger’s men were expected to register a comfortable victory, however, they showed a mental fragility in defence – a typical trait of the Wenger reign in recent years.
The manner of conceding goals almost immediately as they restored scores back to level, not once, but twice during the match will have been the biggest source of frustration for the Gooners faithful.
It’s a dreadful start to their European quest, and here’s how Twitter reacted to the shock loss.
Well, we knew Piers wasn’t going to hold back.
Whatshisname’s been useless recently. Seems to save all his energy for snubbing my handshakes. #afc

Wenger will never quit, this Arsenal board will never fire him. We’re trapped in a Groundhog Day of mediocrity. #afc — Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) September 29, 2015
Olympiacos are the first Greek team to score three goals in England since 1976.

To make matters even worse their opponents had lost all of their previous 12 attempts on English soil.

Oh and it’s Bayern Munich in the next two games, who just won 5-0 at home to Dinamo Zagreb, the team that Arsenal lost to on the opening matchday.

The final nail in the coffin for Gooners was the bizarre decision to leave summer signing and No. 1 custodian Petr Cech on the bench.

Hosting Manchester United at the weekend, the pressure will well and truly be on Wenger’s shoulders yet again.
