The Central Coast Mariners have lost a sixth consecutive game, going down 4-1 to Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium in their Boxing Day clash.

An action-packed first half saw the Sky Blues take the lead in the opening two minutes through Alex Brosque, before two penalties – one which saw Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper Paul Izzo sent off for a second bookable offence – converted by Brosque and Mickael Tavares respectively, put the home side up 3-0.

Harry Ascroft was able to get one back for the visitors only minutes before half-time; his free header finding its way into the back of the net.

The second half was a much more even contest, the Sky Blues unable to exploit their numerical advantage. Sydney did to their performance off with a fourth goal in the 84th minute with the Mariners’ Jake McGing credited as the goalscorer.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the game.
