Aleksander Hleb – 2008 (£12m)
Just a year after completing his dream move, Hleb revealed his regret at leaving Arsenal after failing to score in 19 league appearances in his debut season, starting in just five of them.
The Belarus international was a permanent fixture under Arsene Wenger but quickly became surplus to requirements under Pep Guardiola.
Three loan moves later, Hleb’s contract was terminated by mutual consent in 2012 and has since never fully recovered from his disastrous spell in Catalonia. Now 34, Hleb plies his trade for lowly Turkish club Genclerbirligi.
