Manchester City will pay a visit to White Hart Lane, taking on Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday. City have lost their last four away games, and Manuel Pellegrini will be determined to prevent a fifth straight away loss. Both teams are set to finish the season trophy less, so pride will be the most at stake during Sunday’s clash.

City currently sit in second place behind Chelsea and ahead of Arsenal, although Arsenal have a game in hand. The Sky Blues will look to finish the season in the top three, securing qualification for next season’s Champion’s League group stages. A win on Sunday will almost guarantee them Champions league football next season. On the contrary, Spurs are unlikely to be featuring amongst Europe’s most elite next season, as they look to book their spot in the Europa League. The club is in sixth position, and only goal difference separates them from the fifth placed Liverpool. A sixth place finish wouldn’t be the worst for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, but the ambitious Argentine would have hoped for a better finish, based on the quality that his side possesses.

While there might not be much for both teams to be celebrating this season, Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane are both contending for this season’s Golden Boot award. The Argentine is currently topping the league’s goal scoring charts, with 21 goals. Kane, who recently picked up his PFA (Professional Football Association) Young Player of the Year award, is only a goal behind with 20. Close behind them is the injured Diego Costa of Chelsea, who has 19 goals to his name. With only four games remaining and Costa still out with injury, one would either pick Aguero or Kane to claim the Golden Boot award.

City were the dominant side the last time these two met, with Aguero netting four goals to the Spurs’ one at the Etihad. A repeat of that impressive performance by the Argentine could effectively end the debate about who wins the award. Kane on the other hand, did not feature at all in that game, and the only goal he had to his name back then was an own goal. On thing is for sure, both players will be eager to get on the scoresheet, a well as sure victory for their respective team.

City are rumoured to have a major summer exodus, which would see many of their stars leaving the Etihad. The Sky Blues are likely to use their formidable finances to bring in fresh talent to help them challenge on all fronts next season. However, Spurs can still consider themselves in the re-building phase. Pochettino will be eager to start afresh next season, and build on his already very talented squad.

Sunday’s encounter will undoubtedly prove to be an exciting one, with both attack-minded teams involved. Kane and Aguero will be the men to watch out for on Sunday, in a match that has all the makings of a goal fest.
