The battle for third place in Group A will take place when Albania takes on Romania at the Stade de Lyon.

Romania are coming into the game after picking up a point against Switzerland following a 1-1 draw, while Albania are still looking to get off the mark in a major competition after falling to a late 2-0 defeat at the hands of France.

Win needed for Romania

If Romania are able to get a win against the Albanians that puts them into a position where a place in the Round of 16 is not out of the question. A victory for the Tricolorii against the Albanians and then Switzerland losing to France would see them level on points with the Swiss and bring it down to goal difference which as it stands the Swiss would still go through having conceded two less goals so far.

If the Romanians are not able to get through with a second place finish it will come down to being one of the four best placed third position teams. They will be fighting with third place teams for all but Group D. That will be a tight contest because if all teams get the preferred results there will be three teams including them on four points so goal difference could be key.

Albania chasing history

If the Eagles were able to get even a point against the Romanians it would be record setting for the side. This being the first major tournament that the nation has qualified for the next step is to break the duck both with points and goals.

The thing not working in their favour is that Romania are another team that Albania have yet to beat in a competitive fixture. They have faced off eight times and the Albanians have lost six games and the most recent games in the Euro 2012 qualifying they drew both games. They have beaten the Romanians twice in all fixtures however the last win game in 1948.

Decision for De Biasi to make in defence

The Albanian coach Gianni De Biasi has a decision to make for which defenders to play in central defence. Captain Lorik Cana is available for the match, after serving his suspension due to being sent off in the first game against Switzerland. However, the Italian boss faces a conundrum after his replacement, Arlind Ajeti, performed well.

Ajeti and Mergim Mavraj worked well in the centre of defence last game against the French and prevented the opportunities that Les Bleus tried to create. In fact, it was only after Ajeti was taken off that the French managed to score their two goals.
