There’s no way to predict West Ham at home

Brilliant and dynamic one week, stagnant and out of ideas the next – trying to predict a Hammers performance has been the tipster’s nightmare this season.

This is even more accentuated at the Boleyn Ground where they are yet to find any consistency with two wins, two draws and two losses.

Their performances against Chelsea at home -admittedly a team struggling and with 10 men – and Everton last night were night and day.

A fortnight ago they were innovative and clinical with quick transitions, yet despite an equal share of the match this week they lacked any penetration through midfield and created little in a drab affair.

Of course Everton’s defence deserve some credit for their part in this. John Stones was back to his best for the Toffees and Ramiro Funes Mori was stoic for the most part in the absence of captain Phil Jagielka, however in truth they were not tested with the same movement and flair seen in spells from the West Ham midfield.

Despite sitting fifth on the ladder, this is something Slaven Bilic and his men will have to rectify if they are serious about challenging for European spots in April and May.
