In a blow to both Arsenal and Chelsea, Italian champions Juventus have confirmed the signing of striker Gonzalo Higuaín for the third highest ever transfer fee. The Argentinian had been heavily linked to the Gunners in particular this summer, yet the forward will now join the Bianconeri on a five-year deal.

After missing out on one target, Arsenal are now focusing on their pursuit of Alexandre Lacazette after reportedly seeing a £35 million bid already rejected. The Mirror reports that the Gunners and West Ham will need to pay upwards of £40 million if they are to secure the Lyon striker this summer.

Paul Pogba’s return to Manchester United looks to have taken a dramatic turn according to ESPN. Claims are that player agent Mino Raiola has cancelled the French midfielder’s medical which was set to take place in Miami, where Pogba is currently on holiday.

United’s move for fellow French midfielder Blaise Matuidi could be back on suggests the Manchester Evening News. The 29-year-old has been told he can leave current club PSG this summer if a fee of around £30 million is received.

To the other side of Manchester, and it appears City are on the brink of completing the double signing of winger Leroy Sane from Schalke and Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras. The Telegraph is reporting the deals are set to cost the Sky Blues in excess of £60 million.

Chelsea and Everton are set to go head-to-head for yet another signing as both club’s continue their pursuits of Napoli central defender Kalidou Koulibaly. The Mirror says the Blues and Toffees could also battle it out to secure the services of the £30 million rated midfielder William Carvalho, who has long been linked with a move away from Sporting Lisbon.

In further Everton news, the club have met the £7.1 million release clause of Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gana according to the Birmingham Mail. The 26-year-old is said to be a target of a number of clubs, so Everton may have to fight in order to sign a man with four years to still run on his contract.
