Crystal Palace
Wayne Hennessey – 5: Was not the main culprit in the conceding of the goal, however, still should have been more decisive in his decision making rather than getting caught in two minds.
Joel Ward – 6: Had very little to do in defence for much of the game and combined well with the Palace wingers.
Scott Dann – 4: Made a complete mess of a ball that should have been dealt with easily and allowed Defoe in to score.
Damien Delaney – 6: Made some really crucial interceptions, one of which stopped Defoe getting through one-on-one with Hennessey.
Pape Souare – 5: Had a bit of an inconsistent game in terms of pass quality and that often ended the forward movement Palace had going their way.
Yohan Cabaye – 6: A poor game on set piece duty with most going to waste. Did prevent Palace from falling behind early in the first-half, clearing Coates’ header of the line.
James McArthur – 6: Was good in his defensive duties, often getting across to break up the Sunderland attack.
Wilfried Zaha – 6: Another inconsistent performance for the side. Did show some promise going forward, but the final-third play was a bit lacking.
Jason Puncheon – 5: Had a relatively quiet game before being taken-off at halftimeto be replaced replaced by Bakary Sako.
Yannick Bolasie – 6: Was one of the less impactful games of the year for the winger, not really able to find space and cause issues for the Sunderland defence.
Connor Wickham – 5: A quiet performance only getting a couple of shots off, none of which troubled Costel Pantilimon in the Sunderland goal before being replaced by Marouane Chamakh.
Substitutes
Bakary Sako – 5: Had very little impact on the game before being replaced by Patrick Bamford. Only lasted about 20 minutes coming after coming on at halftime to replace Puncheon.
Patrick Bamford – 5: Again little impact made to the game after coming on for Sako.
Marouane Chamakh – N/A: Came on to replace Wickham late on.
