AFC Bournemouth looked like securing their first home win of the season against Leicester City after a spectacular bicycle kick from Callum Wilson before the Foxes pulled one back in the 86 minute to make sure the honours were split.

The crowd around the Vitality Stadium erupted when club talisman Wilson was able to pick out the corner with a pinpoint accurate bicycle kick to give the home side a 1-0 advantage. After the goal, there were not a great deal of chances for either side and it looked as though the Cherries would see it through. However, in the dying minutes of the game, Leicester were doing all they could to snatch a result – and their efforts paid off.

In the 85th minute, a persistent Jamie Vardy was unleashed down the left-hand side and was subsequently fouled by a panicked Steve Cook. Despite the knock, Vardy was more than happy to step up and slot the penalty for his side, meaning both sides have to settle for a goal each and only a single league point.

The result means Leicester City are still undefeated, while Bournemouth will have to be content with having taken four points from their opening four fixtures.

AFC Bournemouth

Artur Boruc – 6: The Pole had very little to do in the first half and was solid through the second. He could do very little about a well struck Vardy penalty.

Simon Francis – 5: Up against Albrighton and an overlapping Schlupp. Francis seemed to manage, solid enough in defence and still found a few opportunities to get forward.

Tommy Elphick – 6: Saw to his defensive duties in a professional manner. Often looked to play the ball out, but was caught in possession more times than he would have liked.

Steve Cook – 5: Had a strong game over the first 80 minutes. Would have received a higher score if he had not have brought Vardy down in clumsy fashion, costing Bournemouth their second win of the season.

Charlie Daniels – 7: The attacking left-back put on another impressive display getting forward every time he could, but did not neglect his defensive duties. Also provided the cross that lead to Wilson’s goal.

Matt Ritchie – 4: Bournemouth’s ambitious right-winger looked to ignite the Bournemouth attack every chance he had, but had little in the way of end product. Points for enthusiasm.

Andrew Surman – 7: A good performance from the Bournemouth pass maker. Only negative was that on occasion he chose to play the safer pass instead of a signature penetrating ball.

Eunan O’Kane – 5: A player that is emerging as an off-the-ball performer. Showed an eagerness to track back and pick up loose opposition players, but was a bit lacklustre with the ball at his feet.

Max Gradel – 5: Played well in partnership with Daniels, dribbles were enthusiastic but was unable to break down the Leicester defense.

Lee Tomlin – 5: Looked a little out of place in what is usually a team with great chemistry. He did manage to successfully link up with Wilson.

Callum Wilson – 8: Did what a striker is meant to do. Hassled the defence, chased the ball and when the moment arose, finished in spectacular fashion.

Substitutes

Marc Pugh – 4: Did not put a foot wrong, but brought very little to the game in terms of positives. An uneventful stint for the Bournemouth wide-man.

Tyrone Mings – 3: What a disaster – subbed on at half time for an injured Daniels, the second half should have been the opportunity that Mings was waiting for. However, a leg injury after 16 minutes cut his debut short. Unfortunate.

Adam Smith – 5: Bournemouth’s third left-back of the game. Smith looked fortified at the back in the time he had.

Leicester City

Kasper Schmeichel – 5: Could do very little about Wilson’s goal, but dealt with everything else. Distribution was not up to standard.

Ritchie de Laet – 4: Had to deal with the pace of Gradel and the overlapping Daniels. Occasionally Wilson snuck over to hassle him.

Robert Huth – 5: A mismatch for Wilson’s pace, Huth struggled to contain the Englishman. His frustration showed when he kicked the ball into Wilson’s face.

Wes Morgan – 7: A really strong showing from the Jamaican international. Tackle selection was rarely questionable and covered his colleagues well.

Jefferey Schlupp – 7: A great showing from the Leicester left-back. Defensively, kept a lid on Ritchie and had a spectacular finish to the game.

Riyad Mahrez – 3: A dim day for the Algerian. Seemingly abandoned his defensive duties for a while and was accordingly subbed off at half-time with no injury .

Daniel Drinkwater – 6: Worked hard and played with a lot of passion, however it did not translate into much.

Andy King – 4: Looked out of sorts for the most part. Did a very subtle job in front of the back line and did not make up for it with attacking contributions.

Marc Albrighton – 5: Got down the line well but had an average day in the crossing depatment. Did not help his left-back as much as he could have.

N’Golo Kante – 6: Was good in bursts, but will need to work on his constistency over the full 90 minutes. Adapted well to being put out wide in the second half.

Jamie Vardy – 7: Persistent as ever, Vardy’s will to chase every opportunity was rewarded in the 85th minute when he won and converted a penalty for his side.

Substitutes

Shinji Okazaki – 5: Came on at half time but could not make his mark on the game. Had chances but did not take them.

Yohan Benalouane – 5: Brought on for de Laet in the 91st minute. Did not contribute anything of note in that breif timeframe.

Joseph Dodoo – 5: Brought on for Albrighton but did very little in the way of altering the outcome of the game. Was very shaky in the final third.
