After being officially named as the Brisbane Roar’s Head CEO, David Pourre returned to speak with the Daily Football Show about the outlook of the former three-time A-League champions.

With the skies over Suncorp Stadium beginning to brighten, the new man in charge ended any speculation that had surrounded their future with Indonesian-based owners, the Bakrie Group.

“There is certainly no ‘for sale’ sign up front,” stated Pourre

“John Aloisi and myself, we were comforted by the fact that the owner put representatives in Queensland, showing their commitment to staying here and helping the organisation.

“They have committed financially…and also to place capital injections into the club to support us in the future.

“No one has a crystal ball, you would like to think everything will be fine for many years to come, but this club is taking it [one] step at a time.”

The renewed monetary commitment from the Bakrie Group could not have come at a better time, with under 30 days remaining for the Roar to clear their existing debts to players under the new CBA.

“The owners have been made very clear around what is owing and they have made a commitment to rectify those situations…we take them at their word and if they fulfil that obligation than there will be no issues at all,” stated Pourre

“All superannuation has been paid up-to-date, which is great…and they are just finalising the other elements.”

With the Roar’s financial worries set to come to an end, Pourre iterated that plans are being put in place to take the club back to their former A-League perch.

“We have obviously had a bit of a hiccup in the preseason, we want to regain the strength that we had and grow that to be an ultimate force in Queensland.

“We are a very successful club as I have said many times and we want to make sure that success transcends not just in the past, but into the future as well.”
