Melbourne City suffered a disappointing loss last Sunday when they travelled west to face Perth Glory in their penultimate match of the home and away season.

City captain Patrick Kisnorbo took time to reflect on the result ahead of his side’s clash against Adelaide United on ANZAC Day at Hindmarsh Stadium.

“It’s one of those results that we want to forget,” Kisnorbo told the club’s official website.

“It wasn’t acceptable by our standards but we’ll take what we got out of it into this week’s game against Adelaide.”

Thankfully for City, their first defeat in five appearances will have no effect on their ladder position. The Melburnians are set to finish fifth due to Perth’s relegation to seventh for multiple salary cap breaches.

“We approached it like any other game. We wanted to win but on the day it didn’t happen. We’re aware of that so we need to regroup and put things right against Adelaide,” Kisnorbo said.

The City skipper made it clear that his side had put no thought into who its elimination final opponent could be, insisting that it made no difference to its preparation.

“At the end of the day we know what we have to do. To get to the final we have to win every game, we’ll start trying to do that this week.”

Kisnorbo has played every minute of City’s 2014-15 home and away campaign. The centre-back’s stellar form has been attributed to his team’s improvement on its bottom-placed efforts from last season.

“It’s great, the body’s good. I love being here and being a part of the City group. Hopefully we can have some success.

“We’ve hopefully got another four or five games. That’s the ambition we’re pushing towards but we’re just focused on this week.

“As a captain you try and do your best for the playing group. Hopefully I’m fulfilling that role and the players are happy with me. Essentially we have 22 captains, everyone leads in their own way. It’s great to have the players support.”
