RBB boycott for second week in a row

This week has been a dramatic one for A-League fans, with active support groups pledging to boycott matches in an attempt to force the FFA to install an effective ban appeals process. The clash against Brisbane Roar was the second match in a row that the Red and Black Bloc were absent, with Pirtek Stadium eerily silent. Usually considered an intimidating venue, it was up to a small crowd in the western and eastern stands to make noise for the home side. It seems certain that without positive FFA action, the fans will continue to watch from the pubs rather than the stadiums.

Jamie Maclaren loves playing at Pirtek Stadium

The switch from Perth Glory to Brisbane Roar has certainly benefited the 22-year-old forward. Five goals in eight matches signifies that Maclaren has settled in comfortably with the Queensland side. Even more impressive is his record at Pirtek Stadium, with three goals in two matches against Western Sydney this season. His threatening presence in the front third is all to the benefit of a formidable Roar side, who still remain within the top three on the ladder.

Wanderers makes it six wins in a row

After an abysmal 2014-15 A-League campaign, who would have thought that the Wanderers would be in this position after eight rounds of the A-League? The Western Sydney side boasts one of the most dominant midfields in the league, with live wire Nichols proving his worth with a stunning curling effort in the second half. Likewise, the pairing of Andreu and Dimas has also been the foundations of the Wanderers success. Moving to the top of the A-League ladder, next week’s upcoming fixture against Melbourne Victory promises to be a cracker.
