Sydney just got ‘out-Sydney’d’

Let’s be blunt; this was not a great display of football. For 75 minutes both sides struggled to string two passes together, something you would think would suit a home side that has been branded ‘Boring FC’ at various times this season. Surprisingly however, it was the Glory that seemed to thrive in this scrappy affair. They didn’t commit numbers forward very often, but they toiled hard in defence and were very compact. Alex Brosque and George Blackwood found it hard to find any space between the lines and were often forced wide. It didn’t suit Sydney to be chasing the game in these conditions and credit to Perth and Kenny Lowe for the way they set up. As for Graham Arnold: no win in their last five and the slump is real.
