Adelaide’s goal struggles continue

The visitors again dominated possession for large parts during the first-half, but again had nothing to show for and is a major concern for boss Guillermo Amor moving forward. The Reds have scored just seven goals this campaign, with two of them deriving from own goals. Bruce Djite was frequently left isolated and often had to come and meet the ball from midfield in order to have some involvement in the niggly clash. Despite being scoreless in the five matches he has featured in this season that can largely be attributed to the scarce serviced he has received and not profligacy. With Marcelo Carrusca starting on the bench for a third consecutive clash and impressing when coming on (scoring a penalty to boot), one seriously wonders just how long will it take before Amor entrusts his faith with the Argentine and restores him to the line-up, given the qualities he possesses on the ball.

Berisha’s love affair with United

The 30-year-old has an admirable goal-scoring record against the Reds, after finding the back-of-net during proceedings. Berisha has now netted 11 times against Adelaide, the most against any opposition in his A-League career. However, it was only his inaugural goal against United while representing the Victory, after failing to open his account in ‘The Original Rivalry’ since his departure from the Roar in 2014. Furthermore, it was his sixth strike of the year pulling level with Bruno Fornaroli of Melbourne City in the race for the golden boot.
