Paul Izzo – Goalkeeper – Central Coast Mariners

If not for Izzo the Mariners may not have returned home with all three points as the custodian produced a sensational performance between the sticks for the visitors. A number of key saves throughout the match against Wellington ensured Central Coast would not be beaten and fans will be hoping Izzo can continue this sort of form.

Storm Roux – Right-back – Central Coast Mariners

The New Zealand international produced arguably his best performance of the season in his side’s 3-1 win over the Wellington Phoenix. Roux constantly pushed down the right side, causing all sorts of problems for the host defence. The 23-year-old grabbed a goal for his efforts, capping-off a top performance where he beat his direct opponent on a number of occasions throughout the night.

Shane Lowry – Centre-back – Perth Glory

Thrown into the starting XI after fellow defender Aryn Williams withdrew in the warm up sighting hamstring tightness. The former Milwall man produced a defensive display which will bring a smile to the face of Glory fans as their sides surge towards the top six. Lowry was on hand on numerous occasions to sniff out a number of Melbourne Victory attacks, although the 26-year-old was involved in the sending off of Fahid Ben Khafallah, a decision which has received mixed response.

Jake McGing – Centre-back – Central Coast Mariners

Produced a solid performance at the heart of the Mariners defence to help them grab three points for the first time in 22-games away from home. McGing was critical to the visitors when looking to hold onto their lead, the young defender working hard throughout the entire match. He will be hoping to carry this solid performance into the later stages of the season.

Josh Risdon – Left-back – Perth Glory

The Socceroo kept dangerous Melbourne Victory winger Fahid Ben Khafallah quiet until the Tunisian was shown a red card 15 minutes into the second-half. The sending-off of his direct opponent allowed Risdon to push further forward as the glory went in search of a winner, after the 10 men of the Victory had pulled their way back.

Luis Garcia – Central-midfield – Central Coast Mariners

After just two games the former Liverpool is proving a hit around the league and his ability is to be admired. Garcia replaced Francesco Stella at halftime in the clash against the Phoenix, an inspiring move by coach Tony Walmsley. His back-heel goal was absolutely sublime and reflected his true quality, while the 37-year-old played a direct role in his side’s other two goals.

Mitch Nichols – Central-midfield – Western Sydney Wanderers

The reinvigorated Nichols was a major factor in his side grabbing the points in an exhilarating 4-3 win over Melbourne City on Friday night. He opened the scoring for the Wanderers as they dominated for the majority of the 90 minutes and the Socceroo had a hand in both of his side’s goals, as the league leaders sent a message to the rest of the competition.

Aaron Mooy – Central-midfield – Melbourne City

While Mooy may not have been his usual devastating self, the central-midfielder still proved to be an attacking force as City went down 4-3 to the Wanderers on Friday night away. The playmaker had a role in all of the visitors’ goals, putting on another performance which will only see his value rise as the season goes on.

Mark Bridge – Forward – Western Sydney Wanderers

The Western Sydney front man continued his excellent form this season as he grabbed himself a brace in the win over Melbourne City at Pirtek Stadium. Bridge took both of his goals well as the Wanderers stretched their lead at the top of the table and he 30-year-old linked up well with Nichols throughout the night to ensure the home side remained on the front foot.

Jamie Maclaren – Forward – Brisbane Roar

Returning from Olyroo duty, the Roar striker hit the ground running as he led his side to a 3-1 win against Sydney FC at the Sydney Football Stadium on Saturday night. Maclaren grabbed himself a brace, opening the scoring early  before closing out the result with a strike in the 76th minute. The former Glory man was a constant danger to a Sydney side who have built their season on defensive structure.

Andy Keogh – Forward – Perth Glory

The returning striker got off to the perfect start playing a direct role in all three of the Glory’s goals. Keogh opened the scoring with a delicate chip to capitalise on the mistake of young Victory defender Thomas Deng, then the 29-year-old saw his shot on goal deflect into the path of Diego Castro for the second goal and earned the penalty which was also put away by the Spaniard.
