Arsenal are on the verge of securing Shkrodan Mustafi and Lucas Perez from Valencia and Deportivo La Coruna respectively.

According to David Ornstein from BBC Sport, an agreed fee of £35m has been agreed for the German defender, Mustafi, who will sign a five-year contract.

Perez is set to complete a medical with the North London club today ahead of his expected move, which is reported to set the Gunners back £17.1m.

Perez, 27, has plied his trade in Spain since coming through the ranks at Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano, and has also spent time in Greece and Ukraine.

Mustafi began his senior career at Everton, but was sold by then-manager David Moyes to Sampdoria in 2012, where his career was reinvigorated before establishing himself at Valencia.

The German defender has been capped 12 times at international level, and scored his country’s first goal of the tournament, coming against Ukraine.

Head coach Arsene Wenger has been criticised for his reluctance to enter the market and has come under increasing pressure with his side only earning a solitary point from the opening two Premier League matches.
