Southampton have enjoyed a good day in the transfer market by confirming two new signings to St. Mary’s. First came the news that Crystal Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy had joined the South Coast club on a three-year deal, to provide competition with Fraser Forster for a spot in between the posts.

Jeremy Pied became the club’s second signing of the day, linking up with the Saints on a two-year deal for a free transfer. The 27-year-old fullback has spent most of his career playing in his native France, where he most recently featured for OGC Nice.

While Southampton gained two, Watford lost a player with Steven Berghuis moving to Dutch side Feyenoord on a season-long loan. After joining the Hornets last summer, the 24-year-old only managed to make 11 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Yet another striker is being linked with West Ham this summer, with Mario Gomez now a target of the club according to the Daily Mirror. The 31-year-old is increasingly unsettled at current club Besiktas, with the growing uncertainty regarding the Turkish political unrest.

In other Hammers news, Slaven Bilic has reportedly seen a bid rejected by Norwich for defender Martin Olsson claims Sky Sports. The 28-year-old made 27 Premier League appearances for the Canaries last season as they suffered relegation back to the Championship.

Swansea City captain Ashley Williams is reportedly on the verge of a move to Everton suggests the South Wales Evening Post. The deal is reportedly worth £10 million, and the 31-year-old is most likely to earn a starting place with it appearing likely John Stones will join Manchester City this summer.

The Swans themselves also reportedly ready to step up their interest in Tottenham winger Nacer Chadli and Leicester striker Leonardo Ulloa. The Daily Mirror speculates the Welsh outfit wants to make moves for both players, who find themselves in and out of their respective club’s first XIs right now.

Rumours regarding Bastian Schweinsteiger’s future has hit boiling point, with the midfielder reportedly sent to train with Manchester United’s under-23 squad. The Manchester Evening News reports the decision, as talk around his short term prospects at Old Trafford continue.

Tottenham are contemplating a move for SC Braga and Portuguese winger Rafa Silva according to the Evening Standard. The Londoners would need to pay around £10 million if they are to secure the services of the 23-year-old, who was part of A Selecao’s Euro 2016 winning squad.
