After an impressive Euro 2016 campaign for Wales, many Liverpool fans believed Joe Allen had revived his chances of remaining at Anfield.
However, the club’s manager Jurgen Klopp does not see the diminutive midfielder as a part of his plans moving forward.
A fee of £13m with Stoke City has been agreed, meaning the Reds will incur £2m loss after purchasing Allen from Swansea City in August, 2012.
Known by some as the ‘Welsh Xavi’, the future of Allen has created a significant amount of conjecture between the Reds’ fan base.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter regarding his move to Stoke:
Good luck to Joe Allen. Thanks for the goal against Arsenal. Meme hero. Bizarrely adored by some fans, I never really got it. But whatever.

Sad to see Joe Allen leave. Think he is a quality player, just a player not suited to a Jürgen Klopp team. Wants strong midfielders. #LFC

I would take £13m for Joe Allen even if he had more years on his contract

Joe Allen proved his critics wrong and turned into a great little player. Sadly he doesn’t have a future at LFC and 13M is still very good.

For all those wanking over Joe Allen these last 6 months, it’s clear Klopp didn’t think he was good enough.

Don’t care about Joe Allen joining Stoke, lad only showed up this season. Best of luck to him though. Simply not good enough. #LFC #SCFC

Joe Allen has been at Liverpool four years and he’s consistently performed for the last six months. It’s the right to move – Good luck!

Personally think its a mistake to let Joe Allen go…and for £13m is a pathetic amount ?

He’s an intelligent player Joe Allen but Klopp is bringing in much needed power in the midfield #LFC

If Joe Allen didn’t have a nickname then no one would be arsed about him leaving #LFC

Joe Allen never got his chance to show how great of a player he is. He could walk into the Camp Nou and not miss a beat
