Manchester United spoilt Leicester City’s expectant title party at Old Trafford, with a resilient 1-1 draw against the runaway leaders at Old Trafford.
The hosts took the lead in the eighth minute, following a superbly worked play which found Anthony Martial at the back post who finished with aplomb past Kasper Schmeichel.
However, it only took Leicester nine minutes to hit back through skipper Wes Morgan header after a Danny Drinkwater free-kick.
Leicester grew in stature in the second half and came close on a number of occasions, but the home side stood firm and had chances of their own to claim the victory.
Controversially, Drinkwater brought down Memphis Depay in the dying moments of the match on the edge of the box and was given his marching orders, however replays confirmed the player may have been impeded inside the box.
On the balance of play it was a deserved result for both sides, meaning that United’s hopes of a Champions League place are slim-to-none and Leicester now focus their attention on Tottenham’s game away to Chelsea.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter:
Leicester are gonna be without Vardy and DrinkWater for the next game! That’s a real blow for their title push! #LCFC #LCFCvMUFC #MnuLei

Guess it didn’t happen today then. We are still going to do it though !! Only a matter of time #Leicester to win the league #LCFC STILL TOP

I don’t think anybody with any influence wanted Leicester wrapping up title at Old Trafford v Man U. #LCFC included. Vardy will get it done.

How the Premier League has changed. Leicester draw 1-1 at Old Trafford and it feels like they underperformed. #MUFC #LCFC

Well, I suppose a point is better than none. Good game and well played #LCFC So, over to Chelsea now to beat #THFC #nailbiting

It’s disgusting to think that Leicester will win the title on a foundation of dirty fouls and dramatic dives. #LCFC

It shows how far #LCFC have come this season when they look disappointed with a draw at old Trafford

Shame #LCFC couldn’t finish their story with what would have been a deservedly epic ending at Old Trafford but just prolongs the inevitable.

Claudio Ranieri has to now rely on his old employers, Chelsea. If they beat Spurs tomorrow #LCFC will be champions.
I love this game.

A true measure of how far #LCFC have come – they came to OT expecting to win – and left undefeated. #Leicester will win the #EPL. Worthy.

This may be controversial, but I hope Spurs win tomorrow, because I want us to win the league ourselves at Everton #lcfc

Think realistic #LCFC fans knew they would clinch it against Everton next week. Good performance regardless.

Oh by the way – two games five goals and 4 points from two games without our alleged “one man team” #lcfc
