Arsenal’s bid to break their title drought took a crushing blow on Wednesday night after a shock 2-1 loss at home to Swansea City.
It took only 15 minutes for the title challengers to break the deadlock through a sublime chip from Alexis Sanchez that saw Joel Campbell stretch and lash in a clever finish from close range.
Just after the half-hour mark and Swansea were level, after a controversial pull back by Jordi Amat on Mesut Ozil saw the ball fall to Jack Cork, who then played an inch-perfect pass into the path of Wayne Routledge and he finished with aplomb.

Arsenal toiled and tried to engineer a route to goal in the second half, notably Sanchez hitting the post on 68 minutes, but all of their efforts came to nothing as Swansea provided a sucker punch from an unlikely source.
Gylfi Sigurdsson’s free-kick from the right-hand channel was whipped into the box and centre-back Ashley Williams bundled the ball home from close range to compound Arsenal’s misery.
The Gunners’ dramatic last-gasp winner against Leicester City seems a distant memory now, sitting six points adrift of the league leaders and have their title hopes hanging by a thread.
