Marcus Rashford (Manchester United)

As the fairy-tale start to his career continue, Rashford became the youngest player to score in a Manchester Derby debut in the Premier League era. Finishing off a swift passing move, the 18-year-old burst beyond City centre-back Martin Demichelis before squeezing the ball past an oncoming Joe Hart into the far corner 16 minutes in. His goal and exuberant performance proved decisive.

Michael Carrick (Manchester United)

The focal point of a steadfast defensive display, he dictated play for the entire 90 minutes. Pushing deeper when Manchester City were in possession and moving into midfield when United were on the ball, he was everywhere he needed to be. A top performance from one of the club’s elder statesmen.

Which player was the most impressive from Man United’s 1-0 derby win?

Anthony Martial (Manchester United)

In an impressive display, the young Frenchman exposed Manchester City’s fragility at the back, repeatedly driving at defender and fellow countryman Bacary Sagna. He held the ball up well and looked dangerous when cutting in from the right hand side, particularly when forcing a save from Joe Hart in the first half.

Honourable mentions – Juan Mata, Chris Smalling, Sergio Aguero
