“I don’t care too much for money, money can’t buy me Stones.”
John Stones is officially a Manchester City player after a protracted negotiation period.
Supporters got wind of the move after the 22-year-old was named on UEFA’s website for the upcoming Champions League season – a list that had to be submitted by the club last night.
The central defender has parted ways with Everton for a reported £47.5m, and Twitter provided a lovely mix of Everton fans ranging from disgruntled to extremely pleased, and City supporters eyeing off the upcoming Pep Guardiola era.
At Barca Pep had Pique, at Bayern he had Boateng. Now he's got John Stones at City.
Do your thing, Pep 👍

Some people couldn’t resist having a crack..
25 – John Stones will celebrate his move to Man City by giving the ball away just 25 times on his debut. Talent.

On the whole, it was a pretty gracious showing on Twitter from the blue half of Merseyside.

Gonna be hard watching John Stones dribble past our whole team next season

It was great to have John Stones at Everton .. where he increased his value by a FACTOR OF 50 .. same sort of price as Raheem Sterling !!!!

However, not all punters agreed.
Is #JohnStones really worth £47.5 million? No, he is not even worth half of that outrageous fee.

Tottenham Hotspur have the best centre back in the league and he cost a quarter of what Man City have paid for John Stones.

John Stones signs for Man City for 47 million😂 I wouldn't even accept 5 for him to come to Celtic. Ridiculous & Overrated!

£47m for someone who's error-strewn & hasn't had a good game since 2015 is good business for us #JohnStones

People going on about #Pogba cost too much (I agree but that's football in 2016) but 47.5 mil for #JohnStones, a defender who can't defend 😂

Some harsh words in there – let’s wait until he’s at least kicked a ball, can we lads?
It was an excellent day for Championship outfit and Stones’ former club Barnsley, who will pocket 15% of the transfer fee paid to Everton.
Great day for Barnsley. Thanks to 15% sell-on clause, they've made £6.6m from Everton selling John Stones to Man City for £47.5m

And lastly, would we honestly expect anything different from Arsenal fans?

And lastly, how could we forget?
The world's two most expensive defenders are John Stones & David Luiz. pic.twitter.com/3xNxgWrCkp
