Momentum needed from the start

If Tottenham Hotspur are to reach one of those coveted Champions League spots, they need to gain momentum from the moment the opening whistle blows. A sleepy defence allowed a goal from Matt Ritchie, who was unmarked and not closed down quick enough by defender Danny Rose.

When they drew level, one could see that spark, but the visitors did not really gain the upper-hand. They were lucky to be leading 3-1 into the break. However, the half-time chat must have made an impact as Spurs came out and played some attractive football, but the possession was still up and down, with neither side showing complete dominance.

Eventually as Bournemouth crumbled, Spurs enjoyed more control, which allowed Kane to score the hat-trick and for Pochettino’s men to record their biggest win of the season.
