Francesco Guidolin – Swansea 2016-present

Many would claim Francesco Guidolin’s placement on this list is somewhat premature, but as he has been tasked with fixing the faults of a predecessor, he is another Italian manager who seems to be following the trend.

Swansea’s poor start to this year’s Premier League saw them perched just one point above the relegation zone, leading to the departure of Garry Monk and subsequent appointment of the Udinese manager very much unknown to the English game. Captain Ashley Williams even admitted in an interview that he had to google his new manager upon his arrival.

With a change certainly needed, Guidolin called upon Italian striker Alberto Paloschi, with whom he worked at Parma, in an attempt to share the load with the out of form Bafetimbi Gomis and pull the Swans out of a preventable, but precarious, relegation scrap.

Guidolin’s Swans, who now sit 10 points clear of safety, look to have secured their top flight status for another year. However, the Venetian native may be quietly hoping for another catastrophe to deal with in order to maintain success in Wales next season.
