It is not uncommon for lightening to strike twice, nor is it overly concerning when it does. But for Everton, lightening has now struck on several occasions, five if you want to be exact.
To count the total number of points the Toffees have thrown away this season from positive positions, you would have to take your socks off and tally with your toes. Throwing away points is an occurrence we are becoming all to used to seeing from Everton, alarmingly for them.
They should have been out of sight by the time the half time whistle arrived and Lukaku could have had a couple more goals to add to his season tally.
Nevertheless it was not to be, and this profligacy continues to see Everton separated from the teams that can call themselves top four challengers.
