Return of Ramírez
Gaston Ramírez may be a name fast slipping from memory for fans at St Mary’s with this appearance his first for the club since August 2014. Garnering a club record fee of around £12 million the 21-year-old Uruguayan had large expectations on his shoulders.
He coped with these expectations well his first two seasons before slipping out of favour and being loaned out to Hull City for the majority of last season where he made regular appearances though featured sporadically in the starting XI. After coming back into the squad after fighting off an ankle injury early in the season Ramírez assisted the equalising goal and the question is raised, does he still have something to offer Southampton or is it time he was moved on?
